Equipped with a single socket, the Dell Precision 3640 Tower Workstation supports either a 10th generation Intel Core processor or an Intel Xeon W-1200 series CPU. Up to 128GB of unbuffered DDR4 memory is offered with 32GB memory modules installed among 4x memory module slots. Memory speed is listed at up to 2933 MHz. Under the hood, the system features 4x 2.5-inch SATA HDDs or 3x 3.5-inch SATA HDDs.

In addition to the drive bays on this system, there are 3x M.2 NVMe SSDs on the motherboard. 2x are available via M.2 2280 slots on the motherboard and 1x via the Dell Ultra Speed Drive.
