Description

QNAP TL-R1620SDC 16-Bay SAS-3 / SATA III JBOD Expansion Enclosure with Dual Controllers – TL-R1620Sdc

Quickly grow the storage capacity of your compatible QNAP NAS or server system with the TL-R1620SDC 16-Bay SAS-3 / SATA III JBOD Expansion Enclosure with Dual Controllers. This 3 RU rackmount storage enclosure features sixteen 2.5″/3.5″ bays that support both 12 Gb/s SAS-3 and 6 Gb/s SATA III drives in JBOD configuration, delivering fast and reliable storage for large backups, virtualization applications, surveillance recordings, and more. Featuring six 12 Gb/s SFF-8644 wide ports, it uses the Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology to achieve 12 Gb/s transfer speeds by combining two 6 Gb/s devices. With dual controllers and a dual path design, this storage enclosure allows for failure-resistant data protection in mission-critical enterprise applications. This enclosure is designed to operate with a mini SAS compatible NAS running QTS / QuTS hero 4.5.1 or later or a computer running Windows Server 19.

Compatibility

QNAP NAS with QTS / QuTS hero 4.5.1 or later or PC/server running Windows Server 2019. Host systems must have at least one mini-SAS HD (SFF-8644) port available.

DataBolt Bandwidth Optimization

SAS DataBolt uses an intelligent data buffer for transferring data to drives at speeds that match the performance of the host NAS or server. Even if you have 6 Gb/s drives installed, the host will always transfer data at 12 Gb/s.

Multipath Routing

Dual controllers and a dual path design ensure failure-resistant operation, allowing other expansion units to continue communicating with the base NAS in the event of one or more disconnects. The TL-R1620SDC also features a redundant 550W power supply to ensure system uptime.

Flexible Daisy Chaining

Up to 16 expansion enclosures can be daisy chained together via high-speed mini-SAS cables, using link aggregation to deliver speeds of up to 96 Gb/s and 4.6PB of raw storage capacity. The TL-R1620SDC supports TL SAS JBODs with NAS and server systems. The EXP SAS JBOD configuration may be used with NAS devices.

NAS Storage Management

Installing the Storage & Snapshot Manager onto your NAS allows you to manage your storage space by configuring RAID groups, storage pools, and snapshots. You can also set up the JBOD as a storage volume for the host NAS to quickly expand your storage.

Multi-Server SAS Zoning

The QNAP JBOD Manager app can be used to divide your server’s storage space into four separate zones, allowing different host servers access to only one zone through specific mini SAS ports. The app also provides operating status and connection topology information in addition to letting you update the firmware of all connected TL-R1620SDC enclosures.

Short Depth Design

This 3 RU rackmount enclosure may be quickly installed onto standard server racks or small AV cabinets.
